AutoPacific U.S. Light Vehicle Sales Forecast Shows Relaxed Growth in 2014 as Market Stabilizes AutoPacific today officially announced its forecast for 2014 U.S. light vehicle sales. Predicting greater than a 550,000 unit increase over 2013, AutoPacific forecasts a 2014 year-end total of 16.1M units. With forecast accuracy of 97.4% in 2013, AutoPacific achieves a 10-year average accuracy of 95%.

Low owner satisfaction with replacement tires directly impacts future brand consideration Tire satisfaction scores provide insight into many areas, from individual attribute performance to future brand consideration. “Owner satisfaction and future brand consideration share a strong correlation,” says AutoPacific president George Peterson. “Owners who are highly satisfied with their tire experience are much more likely to consider that same brand for a future tire purchase, improving a brand’s consumer retention ability.”

AutoPacific Forecasts Healthy, Profitable Year for Automakers AutoPacific today officially announced its forecast for 2013 U.S. light vehicle sales. Predicting about a 700,000 unit increase over 2012, AutoPacific forecasts a year-end total of 15.1M units. “Many automakers have right-sized their manufacturing to be profitable at a total light vehicle industry size of 15M annual sales,” said Ed Kim, AutoPacific’s Vice President of Industry Analysis. “With 2013 expected to hit this level of sales, the year should prove to be a healthy and profitable one for many automakers.”

Recently Released AutoPacific Survey Polls 25,000 Tire Buyers for Most Satisfying Tire Brand Michelin is the most satisfying tire brand for second year in a row, according to AutoPacific’s Replacement Tire Buyer Dynamics and Satisfaction Study, followed by Pirelli, Goodyear, Nitto and BF Goodrich. AutoPacific surveyed over 25,000 vehicle owners who bought replacement tires over the past twelve months. The study was used to determine what is important when choosing a replacement tire and which tire brands provide the most satisfying experience. In addition the research reveals insights on brand awareness, familiarity, brand image, and influencers on the purchase decision.

GENERATION Y BEGINS TO EMBRACE HYUNDAI, KIA Results of a just released study on Generation Y new vehicle buyers in the United States shows Honda and Toyota top the list of brands most purchased by Generation Y new car buyers in 2010, followed by Ford, Chevrolet and Nissan. New to the top 10 brands purchased list in 2010 are Hyundai and Kia, at spots 6 and 8 respectively. Displaced, and no longer in the top 10, were Mazda and Jeep, who last year were in spots 6 and 8.
